Light Storm FAQ
Here's a list of useful questions about Light Storm.

Light Storm is very easy to build. The only tools you'll need are a knife (or a box cutter), scissors and measuring stick.

You can make it in under 30 minutes (after you get the materials). You'll want to let it sit for a little while for the paint to dry.

I made mine for $45 with materials I found at the store and ordered online. You'll need to order a special gimmick or buy it at a magic shop.

Build it, yes. Perform it well, maybe. That depends on how good you are at practicing and preparation. You and your assistant need to get the timing right for the effect to look good. A little practice and you should be fine.

A twelve-year old could make the trick. A responsible twelve-year old could perform it.

It's based upon an idea I had a long time ago, based upon a really old stage gag. Rand Woodbury and I had thought up a couple different ways to use this technique.

Once I had the idea it was pretty simple to figure out how to put it together. Finding the time was the hardest part.

No. Gut Buster uses a radically different method. Gut Buster was ultimately the byproduct (with Paul Harris's help) of my research into different methodologies for the effect.

While I think Gut Buster is visually superior, Light Storm has no advance set up requirements and can be performed at any time. Light Storm also allows you to pass a much large object through someone's body. Some performers are using Light Storm as a lead-in illusion to Gut Buster. The methods are complimentary in creating deception.
