Mark Mason Lecture

Last week, at the urging of my friend Jamie Porter, I went to a lecture by Mark Mason.  I don’t normally go to many lectures.  I’m glad I made this exception.  It was the kind of lecture where any one effect he tipped was worth the price of the lecture.  He has some real solid, real good stuff.  His “Attitude Force”, a reworking of the classic force is a great example.  His handling of the ambitious card routine and other card stuff was very visual and very practical.

If you get the chance to see him at a convention or lecture near you, go see him.  Drive far.  What I liked about Mason’s stuff was not only was it good, but it was practical for people who don’t want to spend the rest of their lives as finger flickers.  He thinks through effects in a very logical manner.  Some of the coolest stuff was actually the most simple, “baby magic” as he calls it.

If you don’t have the chance to see him, pick up his two-disc DVD “Real World Magic”.  It’s got some really great material for close-up workers.

J.B. Magic is available at fine magic shops everywhere.  You can also visit their UK site here: http://www.jbtv.co.uk/
